By working collaboratively the Department will help drive economic growth and the creation of jobs. The Department brings together responsibility for the state’s growing resources and energy portfolio, the transformation to high-value manufacturing, and responsibility for skills formation, employment and science. It will also provide a greater focus on Aboriginal economic development including skills development, job creation, business development and sustainable employment for Aboriginal people. Leadership of across government policy development on Aboriginal affairs and supporting Aboriginal young people and those living in regional and remote South Australia will be central to the Department’s role.
