City of Playford
The City of Playford is often referred to as Adelaide’s CBD of the North, and represents a focus for the urban and economic development of the State. As the centrally located local government in the region, Playford’s task is to work closely with other governments and agencies to achieve well planned and sustainable development that will benefit the State and local community for the long term.
The City itself covers 345 square kilometres, making it the third largest council area in metropolitan Adelaide. Playford has undergone sustained population growth over the past decade, through diversification of its industries and the availability of affordable housing. Between 2004 and 2014 the population has increased by 25% to around 87 thousand, making Playford the sixth most populated council area in SA and the second fastest growing metropolitan council over the period.
