The Waite Arboretum at Adelaide University's Urrbrae campus has a wide range of plantings, including species now considered rare or endangered in the wild.
The free app gives information on all 2,300 trees in the arboretum and has an interactive map.
It means visitors are able to search for their favourite plants and track their GPS positions while in the arboretum.
